During the ID@Xbox Showcase, Sabotage Studio announced that the demo of its charming pixel art RPG Sea of Stars is now available for Xbox.
The demo, which has already been released for Nintendo Switch and PC, can be downloaded on the Xbox Store for Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One, providing fans on Microsoft's consoles with a chance to try the game before making a purchase. At the moment, the only platforms that haven't yet received the demo are PS5 and PS4. It's likely that it'll come at some point, but we have no specific information at the moment of this writing.
The announcement was accompanied by a trailer, which you can enjoy below.
Sea of Stars is a prequel set in the universe of Sabotage's Studio acclaimed game The Messenger and it has been funded with a successful Kickstarter campaign that reached its goal in a single day. It'll release for PS5, PS4, Nintendo Switch, PC, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One on August 29, 2023. If you'd like to know more, you can read our hands-on preview.
This game offers retro-style turn-based battles with timed attacks and defense, tactical use of damage types, and more. The pixel art visuals are beautiful, with dynamic lighting and additional effects.
The music includes contributions from renowned JRPG composer Yasunori Mitsuda, though he didn't compose the entire soundtrack. You can read more about the score in our previous dedicated article from a few weeks ago, on top of a clip showing the "Artful Gambit" option intended to add challenge to the game, and an extensive video showing the "Wheels" tabletop minigame that can be played at taverns.
