Room 8 Group has announced that they are launching a separate independent development studio called Dragon’s Lake Entertainment. The studio is currently set to focus on major console and PC game creation and partnerships.
Dragons Lake Entertainment will operate independently, with provisional backing and support from Room 8. It is based in Limassol, Cyprus, with production teams in Kyiv, Ukraine, and California.
The studio has already completed various undisclosed projects that Dragon’s Lake will announce the status of in the near future.
Dragon’s Lake has over 35 employees currently working for the company, with plans to double that number by the end of next year. There are a number of noteworthy hires including:
- CCO Eric Simonich, who was a creative director at 2K and publishing design director at Microsoft Game Studios. He also held positions at Sony Computer Entertainment, Remedy Entertainment, Crystal Dynamics and others.
- Executive Producer Luke Stafford, who worked as a producer on Warface and lead level designer on Crysis Wars at Crytek, and was the chief level designer for Operation Flashpoint 2 and DiRT at Codemasters.
- Tech Lead Sergii Biloshytskyi, who has worked on programming for Just Cause 3 at Avalanche Studios, and on The Division, Assassin's Creed: Revelations and others for Ubisoft.
