The Marvel's Avengers V1.7.0 Update has arrived, featuring the launch of the Red Room Takeover  Event, a new Champion System, improvements to gear, and more!

Marvel's Avengers has a bit of a rough launch, but that hasn't stopped Crystal Dynamics from continuing to work hard on making new content. The developer laid out ambitious plans with its 2021 Roadmap earlier this year and now we've got another piece of the puzzle along with a number of other fixes and improvements.

What's New in the Marvel's Avengers V1.7.0 Update?

The first big addition in the Marvel's Avengers V1.7.0 Update is the Red Room Takeover Event. This features single-played HARM Rooms that scale from Power Level 1–120.

Successfully completing minor missions in the Red Room Takeover Event will earn you Surging Set gear if you're above Power Level 80; players below Power Level 80 will get scaling gear instead. Completing the major mission, however, will net you a nameplate, a "large amount" of Polychoron, and Upgrade Modules; heroes above Power Level 120 will also score a piece of the Exotic set from Last Avenger Standing. Players at Power Level 119 and lower will get appropriately scaled gear.

Also arriving in this update is the new "Champion System". Heroes who are Level 50 can now earn XP to enhance their combat abilities; any XP earned after Level 50 will now be converted to "Champion XP" which is specific to each Hero. Once you earn enough Champion XP, you'll be able to unlock brand-new Champion Skills. The ability to earn XP will also be enhanced with the debut of "Hero's Catalysts," a booster that will be occasionally given away for free in the Marketplace.

As you can already tell, gear is a focus of this update with these new events. This is just a tiny part of an overhaul that is also debuting in the Marvel's Avengers V1.7.0 Update; fewer "non-useful items" will be dropped going forward. If you get a new gear drop, the odds are much better that it will be something you actually want.

These are just some of the many additions, fixes, and improvements in this patch; you can read the full Marvel's Avengers V1.7.0 Update patch notes for all the details. You can get started with your adventure by buying Marvel's Avengers for PC and consoles via its official website starting at $39.99 or your regional equivalent.
