Three Pokeballs in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl

A new Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl update is coming tomorrow, and it's adding two new Mythical Pokemon for you to befriend. You'll be able to get two legendary Pokemon in the game, but only if you've fulfilled certain conditions first.

How to get Arceus in the new Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl update

Starting from tomorrow, you'll be able to get yourself an Arceus in Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. You'll need to have played Pokemon Legends: Arceus, though, and finished the "main missions" in that game. This includes the final post-game mission, which involves meeting every Pokemon Arceus has to offer. You won't need to complete their Pokedex entries, though; just encounter them at least once and you're safe (then complete the final mission, of course). Hey, at least finishing Arceus isn't a chore thanks to all the changes to the formula.

If you have a finished Arceus save file and you've updated Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl to its latest version, you'll then need to enter the Hall of Fame and get the National Pokedex. You'll be given the Azure Flute, which you must then take to the Spear Pillar to meet Arceus. You can do all of this starting tomorrow, so make sure your game is updated and ready. It's a shame the famous dupe glitch doesn't work anymore, or you could craft yourself an entire army of Arceus to take on the world.

Want the power of a god in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl? You'll have to complete Pokemon Legends: Arceus first.

How to get Darkrai in the new Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl update

Getting the Darkrai is much simpler, but unfortunately, you won't be able to get your hands on this one as quickly. Starting from April 1st (it's not a joke, don't worry), you'll be able to get the new Member's Card item. You can get this by selecting Mystery Gift in-game, then choosing "Get via Internet". Once you've got the card, you'll need to have entered the Hall of Fame and collected the National 'Dex, just like for Arceus. This time, however, you'll also need to have completed Cresselia's in-game event. Once you've done that, you must simply travel to Newmoon Island, and there you'll find your new best Darkrai friend. Aww.

This Pachirisu is adorable, but it ain't no Darkrai. Fear not, though, for Darkrai is coming to Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl soon.

The Darkrai event runs from April 1st until April 30th, so be sure you've secured your Mythical Pokemon before then. If you're still on the fence about picking up Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, make sure to check out our review (spoilers: they're good and you should get them). You should also take a look at our Pokemon Legends: Arceus review to hear about all the ways it shakes up the franchise's core formula for the better. Now if you'll excuse us, we're off to make some space in our Box for a literal deity.
