Overwatch Game Director Jeff Kaplan has said that a feature that would allow you to export your Play of the Game without the use of external software. What's more: this feature isn't very far off according to a tweet by Kaplan on the Overwatch forums in a reply to a player inquiring about the feature.

Yes. This will be live before the end of summer. It's being worked on right now.
While coming a lot later than most players would like, this feature has been one of the most-requested features to be added to Overwatch. Currently, you have to make use of something like Plays.tv to export your highlights.

Another forum post by Kaplan revealed that the Overwatch team has some serious thoughts about bringing a map editor to the game. This would allow players to design and build their own maps, leading to a near-endless amount of community-made content. It won't be coming anytime soon, though.

We are extremely open-minded about releasing a map editor for Overwatch someday. But because Overwatch was made with a brand new engine, this is not a small task or one which can happen any time soon. We have this on our long-term road map and believe heavily in user-made content. But there are many challenges ahead of us and it will be a very long road before our editor can be made available to the public.
The prospect of getting a map editor is a very exciting one, even if its release is still very far off. Player-made content often brings out the most creative among us to create something utterly unique. Features like this usually help with keeping an active player base at relatively little cost on Blizzard's part. Personally, I'd love to see what the Overwatch community can come up with.

Quick Take

I am continuously impressed by how closely Kaplan and his team want to work with the players. They've been listening to requests, have acted accordingly on several occasions, and they like to keep players in the know.

I've been playing games since I was just barely able to walk so I might as well write about them.
