Nintendo announced that a new Nintendo Direct will be aired later this week, showcasing what players can expect from the Switch in the short term.

Specifically, this will be a "Partner Showcase," meaning that it's going to focus on third-party games coming in the first half of 2024.

The announcement, made on X (formerly Twitter), mentions that it's going to be fairly brief, clocking at 25 minutes. It'll be on Wednesday, February 21, at 6:00 a.m. PST, 9:00 a.m. EST, 2:00 p.m. GMT, or 3:00 p.m. CET, depending on where you live.

Will Microsoft's multiplatform games be announced at this Nintendo Direct?

What makes this Direct potentially special is that we may or may not see one or more of Microsoft's games teased a few days ago by the house of Xbox. The company has mentioned that four are coming to additional platforms, including two smaller experiences and two community-focused games.

Of course, while I imagine that they would be announced at a Nintendo Direct, we can't say whether the reveal will come this week or at a later date.

As usual, the anticipation for this kind of broadcast is high among fans, and you can expect a full report here on TechRaptor when the Nintendo Direct airs.

The latest Nintendo Direct, aired in September 2023, was not a partner showcase, but it revealed some pretty relevant third-party games, including Unicorn OverlordSaGa Emerald BeyondTomb Raider I-II-III Remastered, and plenty more.

It'll be interesting to see whether the upcoming broadcast will match it in terms of quality and variety, even if it's going to be shorter and lack the first-party segments.

Just recently, we heard that the Switch has shipped 139.36 million units as of December 31, 2023.

Nintendo expects the hybrid console to reach 141.12 million units by March 31, 2024, and we still don't have a single official word just yet about its potential successor as the console is about to enter its eighth year on the shelves in March.
