The Key Art of Unicorn Overlord

Vanillaware's upcoming tactics JRPG Unicorn Overlord is less than three weeks away from its release, and today we learn that it's a really big game.

Prohrammer Kentaro Ohnishi posted on Vanillaware's official X (formerly Twitter), and he mentions that the game turned out to be the one with the most content within the beloved developer's whole production.

While the developer's trademark gorgeous art is certainly a selling point, looks like the game will keep us busy for quite a while.

Ohnishi-san also provided today's count-down illustration.

If you're unfamiliar with the game, it was revealed during the Nintendo Direct back in September 2023, but fans have known about its existence for quite a long time. We saw a teaser in 2019, sneaked in as a bonus in the unusual paid prologue released exclusively in Japan for 13 Sentinels: Aegis Ring.

Since then, fans of the developer have been wondering what the game was all about intil its final reveal a few months ago. From what we saw and heard so far, this title may be worth the fairly long wait.

Unicorn Overlord will release for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch on March 8, 2024. If you want a physical copy, you can already pre-order one on Amazon.

At the moment of this writing, no PC version has been announced. For some reason, Vanillaware has never released any of its games for PC besides the very first, Fantasy Earth Zero. It'll be interesting to see whether things will change with Unicorn Overlord, considering that Atlus (which publishes the game) is finding a lot of success on Steam.

If you want to see more of the game, you can take a look at the latest gallery of screenshots and gameplay detailsthe latest trailer, another video, and a third from a series explaining the basics of the gameplay.
