One or more new Horizon Zero Dawn games are apparently in development by external teams, further fueling rumors that a mobile game or VR game could be in development.
Horizon Zero Dawn has quickly become a popular franchise for PlayStation Studios. The game originally launched as a PS4 exclusive and was surprisingly revealed for PC some time later. Steamforged Games created a tabletop game in the universe, and the heroine Aloy even got a cameo as a playable character in Genshin Impact.
The success of the franchise is clear -- as is the willingness of Guerilla Games and PlayStation Studios to expand it to new horizons. Now, a new job listing has revealed some more details about the future of this franchise.
What We Know About the New Horizon Zero Dawn Games
A job listing for a "Co-Dev Producer" reveals some details about new Horizon Zero Dawn games. It's rather light on specific details, but it does appear to confirm that new projects are in the works.
"As a Co-Dev Producer at Guerrilla, you will help us expand the Horizon universe in new and exciting directions," read the job listing (via ResetEra). "In this role, you will be part of a specialized group overseeing externally produced game projects."
Note the "externally produced game projects" part of the description. This is a clue that there may be new Horizon Zero Dawn games in the works that aren't part of the core series. Thus far, we've heard rumors of a VR game being in development, although nothing has been confirmed just yet. It's equally likely that a new game could come out for mobile or other consoles, too.
Considering Aloy's appearance in Genshin Impact and the launch of a board game, it's clear that Guerilla Games and PlayStation are both eager to make the most out of this franchise. Unfortunately, they're keeping their cards very close to their chest and we don't have any firm details just yet. There's still plenty of fun to be had with the current games, though; you can buy Horizon Zero Dawn for PC and PlayStation via its official website and you can look forward to Horizon Forbidden West launching early next year.
