CyberConnect2 has revealed a bunch of new Fuga: Melodies of Steel 2 info. This includes details regarding the battle and gameplay systems, as well as profiles for some of the characters and a sneak peek at how the opening chapter of the game will begin.
In a new Twitter thread (each tweet of which contains a link to an explanatory YouTube video), CyberConnect2 begins by highlighting information relating to battle mechanics. Placing children at the correct stations is crucial to combat success, as they will each have different strengths you'll need to take advantage of. Soldiers will also have skills, which you can use to gain an advantage.
One particularly special kind of skill is the new Leader Skill, which will activate randomly throughout battles. Leader Skills will give you the chance to recover your squad or add powerful buffs, like the ability for your whole squad to act first in battle. Using these skills correctly will be pivotal to finding a successful battle strategy.
Following information about Fuga: Melodies of Steel 2's combat systems, CyberConnect2 reveals a little more about the way story will work. The new Judgment Chance system allows you to make choices at critical junctures, and these choices will then open up new story possibilities for you. Depending on what kind of character you play, you might see completely different scenes to another player.
We also get a tease for how the story of Fuga: Melodies of Steel 2 will begin. At the game's outset, it's been a year since Berman and Gasco signed an armistice, bringing an end to the war. However, the Gasco Army writes letters to the children who fought in the war, requesting their presence in the new capital city of Pharaoh. Naturally, from there, things escalate, and it's not long before the children are fighting once more.
Fuga: Melodies of Steel 2 is set for release on PC, PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch on May 11th. It'll be a day one release on Xbox Game Pass, too.
