2K has announced that NBA 2K24 will support crossplay across PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. According to 2K, this applies to all of the modes within the game, and there are no restrictions whatsoever, so if you're on PS5, you can play alongside (or against) your Xbox Series X|S buddies with no problems.

Over on Twitter, 2K says "the word is out" about NBA 2K24 crossplay: it's officially supported "on new gen". This news is supported by a trailer confirming the crossplay feature, but the trailer also has some bad news for last-gen gamers: there's no crossplay on PS4 or Xbox One, unfortunately, so if you want to play across platforms, you'll have to pick up the current-gen version.

There's also no word on whether or not the PC version of NBA 2K24 will support crossplay. In the trailer's description, 2K says the game will support "crossplay between PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S consoles", seemingly omitting the PC version. Seeing as NBA 2K23 on PC was based on the last-gen console version of the game, it looks like we can expect the same from NBA 2K24. Sorry, PC and Switch players.

NBA 2K24 is currently scheduled to land on PlayStation consoles, Xbox platforms, Nintendo Switch, and PC on September 8th. Yesterday, 2K also revealed that the cover athlete for the game will be Kobe Bryant, and the Black Mamba Edition of the game was also revealed. This being a 2K sports game, it'll naturally net you a bunch of extra bonus content if you pick it up, including virtual currency, MyTEAM points, and lots of other stuff.

That's not the only special edition that will be available for NBA 2K24, though. Earlier today, 2K also unveiled the 25th Anniversary Edition, which comes with a full 12-month NBA League Pass subscription, allowing you to watch NBA games either live or on demand. That'll be a limited-time bonus that's only available until September 10th, though, so you'd better make sure to snap up your copy before then if you want access to real NBA games alongside your video game.
