Over the last few years, 2K games have been taking the old-gen console version of the beloved Basketball series, 2K NBA, and offering it in the newest game releases to PC players. 2K Games have confirmed that this year will be no different than the last few, and PC players will not have access to the current-gen version of the game.
The current-gen version of the game comes with several technical enhancements that PC players will yet again not have access to. Those who play on the console version have the latest and greatest version of the game, while PC players are left in the dust. This is what the company had to say about this issue:
“This is an aspect that the team has taken to heart and will continue to investigate how to move for the future of the franchise. But for now, our goal is to make sure NBA 2K23 is optimized for the new PS5 and Xbox Series X / S consoles, while still making sure the gaming experience remains fresh and innovative for players on other platforms.“,
This will likely cause an uproar from those who choose to play 2K23 on PC, as this is history repeating itself. 2K Games made a very similar statement last year for 2K22, and just as before, it seems they have made little improvement on the situation. Players believe that the game deserves a more recent version, and there may be hope for 2K24 to receive an update with the current-gen version.
On a lighter note, those who follow the series are thrilled to have Michael Jordan as the cover man for the 2K23 Michael Jordan Edition and the NBA 2K23 Championship Edition, as he is an icon to basketball fans all across the globe. 2K Games also announced that Devin Booker, three-time NBA all-star Shooting Guard for the Phoenix Suns, will be the cover man for the 2K23 Standard Edition and cross-gen Digital Deluxe Edition, which fans believe is well-deserved. Booker made a statement in regards to being the cover man, stating,
“It’s a dream come true to see myself on the cover of NBA 2K,” said Devin Booker. “I’ve been a huge NBA 2K fan since I was a kid, and it’s surreal to finally join the exclusive club of basketball greats who’ve been cover athletes. I’m also honored to share this year’s covers with the iconic Michael Jordan, who changed the game for all players who came after him, as well as two of the all-time WNBA GOAT’s, Diana Taurasi and Sue Bird, who continue to make a huge impact on the game."

For those unfamiliar with MyTeam, this is a feature where players can build their team by using in-game currency to purchase players from both the past and present. Players can acquire these player cards by completing challenges and buying packs from the in-game shop. This feature adds a new dynamic to the game for those who enjoy card collection and for players who want to build a roster that caters to their style of play.
