Isekai fans rejoice — That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime Isekai Memories has opened up pre-registration on Android and iOS, giving you a chance to enjoy an all-new adventure later this year.
That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime is one of the most popular properties in the isekai (literally "different world") genre. Typically, the protagonists of these stories meet an untimely end in the real world and find themselves in a strange new fantasy environment, often coinciding with an awakening of magical powers or a call to action for a legendary journey.
The Slime series, however, is a little different - ordinary office worker Satoru Mikami gets stabbed to death and awakens in a fantasy land as a slime, quite possibly the lowliest of all fantasy creatures. Despite this sorry start, he gets a pretty cool superpower that allows him to eat anything and adopt its form. Naturally, players will get to see familiar characters and sights from the anime as they play through the game. Even diehard fans will have a reason to check out this upcoming mobile game, though — as today's announcement notes, the author of the light novels that kicked off this media franchise has supervised the creation of an all-new, original adventure.
Setting aside, there will be an interesting mix of gameplay in this upcoming mobile release. Players will be able to place buildings as part of their own vision for the monster nation of Tempest. You'll have a fair few fights ahead of you, too, through the use of a "card-selection battle command system" that can be mastered by players of any skill level. This isn't the only card battle game on the way; Konami recently announced that Yu-Gi-Oh: Rush Duel is coming to Western Markets.

The That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime Isekai Memories release date will be sometime in 2021. There's no word on a price just yet, although my gut tells me that this will probably be a free-to-play game.
You can pre-register for this game on Android and on iOS right now. There are several community milestones available based on the number of players who pre-register. If this isn't your kind of game, there's still plenty of cool upcoming things for anime fans to look forward to such as that new Demon Slayer fighting game coming out next month. Or hey, you could always just watch episodes of the Pokemon anime on your Switch.
