Today, Nintendo announced that Mario Kart Tour, their newest mobile title, would release on September 25 on iOS and Android devices worldwide.
The newest Mario Kart title will allow players to race in courses set in real-world cities like Paris, Tokyo, and New York. As this game is for gamers who are not necessarily familiar with Mario Kart or gaming in general, Nintendo has also released a video teaching players how to drift.
“For the first time ever in a Mario Kart game, players can drive past giant Warp Pipes while drifting through a New York-inspired cityscape, all with the swipe of a finger,” said Nick Chavez, Nintendo of America’s Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing. “Whether you’re an experienced Mario Kart pro or just getting your Mushroom Kingdom driver’s license, Mario Kart Tour is a game for everyone that brings some of Nintendo’s most beloved characters into the hands of players around the world.”
In Mario Kart Tour, will be able to play regular Mario Kart gameplay while collecting drivers such as Mario as well as karts and gliders. The aforementioned City Courses will be available during specific time periods during and after the launch. Nintendo dubs the game as a 'free-to-start' title, where players will have to link their Nintendo Account in order to obtain their in-game registration card. For those who do not have a Nintendo Account, be sure to register here.

Quick Take:
Mario Kart Tour looks pretty cool. I'll probably be able to get some family members that don't game at all to give it a go, which may lead to them enjoying and actually playing a Mario Kart game on the go, which seems like a great match, honestly. Of course, the in-game monetization is a huge question mark, but we'll see.
