Today Sega aired its RGG Summit 2023, providing news about upcoming Like a Dragon games. If you're wondering, the name of the event is an acronym for Ryu ga Gotoku, the Japanese title of the series formerly known as Yakuza.
We start with Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name. First and foremost, we get to see Kazuma Kiryu's battle styles in action. The first is his traditional Yakuza style, while the second is the Agent Style, inspired by spy movies. You can watch them at the 19:08 mark of the presentation.
The story takes place in Sotenbori in Osaka, three years after Yakuza 6: The Song of Life. A secondary location is Yokohama. We also get an introduction of the main characters, alongside their actors.
Moving on to Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth. We hear that the trailer revealed at the Xbox Game Showcase is an actual cutscene from the game. We hear that the game is set in Yokohama and the foreign location showcased in the trailer (which appears to be Hawaii, albeit it was not named).
We get to see a conversation scene between Ichiban Kasuga and Kazuma Kiryu at the 1:00:10 mark of the presentation. Interestingly, we learn that there will be another RGG Summit with more information in the fall. It'll be around September (likely just before Tokyo Game Show like last year).
You can take a look at the whole show below.
Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth will release for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC in early 2024. Recently, the publisher announced the winner of the Grand Prix of its audition, YouTuber and Vtuber Kson. As a result, she will play a role in the game. If you'd like to see more, you can enjoy the previous trailer.
Before we get to play Infinite Wealth, another adventure awaits with Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name, which is coming on November 9 for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC. The game will explain what happened to traditional hero Kazuma Kiryu between Yakuza 6: The Song of Life and Infinite Wealth.
