The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel II Launches September 6th

The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel II releases on both PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita on September 6th in North America. The next title in the "Trails" series, Trails of Cold Steel II picks up where last year's Trails of Cold Steel left off. Coming from someone who has played every title in the franchise that XSEED has localized so far, it would be a good idea to stay away from this upcoming title unless you've already played the first "Cold Steel" game to completion. We talked briefly about the title with Localization Specialist Brittany Avery at E3.

It's extremely difficult to explain Trails of Cold Steel II without spoiling the first game's ending. The "Trails" series has always been known for lots of dialogue and a heavily overarching storyline, and last year's Trails of Cold Steel is no exception. The game was sixty hours long on a shorter playthrough, and like other games in the series, the title is filled with sidequests and side distractions for players to explore. I sound like a broken record at this point, but do yourself a favor and play Trails of Cold Steel first before this game, you'll thank me later.

The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel II will retail for $39.99 on both PlayStation 3 and Vita.

Quick Take

Although we haven't published a review for Trails of Cold Steel, we did preview the title at E3 2015 - if you're at all interested in a nice, long, story-heavy RPG for your PS3 or Vita I'd personally recommend it. I played the title in preparation for covering Cold Steel II at this year's E3, and it retroactively became one of my favorite games of 2015. I'm definitely looking forward to writing a review for this title as soon as I possibly can. For anyone interested in the series that doesn't have a PS3 or a Vita, The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky (FC/SC) were released on PC and are just as good, if not better in some ways.
