This particular bundle was announced not all that long ago and it received overwhelming support from the indie game developer community. The final version of the bundle will have over 700 games and it might end up with even more than that as it still appears to be taking submissions at the time of writing.
"This is a grassroots bundle by a group of indie game devs who want to help Palestinians," read the Itch.io forum post from Alanna "Tybaiwai" Linayre, who organized the bundle. "By existing, it proves that as a collective, we are a formidable force of good, more than willing to volunteer our talents and creations to help others."
Initially beginning as a small bundle with 22 games, it rapidly grew to over 700 items — a success beyond its creators "wildest dreams" according to a tweet. Games featured in the bundle include The Corridor, Cook, Serve, Delicious! 2!!, and others; it's headlined by Liya and the Shadows of War, a game about a little girl who lives in the Gaza Strip during the events of 2014.
Developers on Itch.io have had a history of creating charity bundles in recent years. A number of developers got together to create a bundle to support Black Lives Matter back in June 2020; that particular bundle featured over 1,000 individual items from over 840 creators.
Proceeds from the bundle will support the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), an organization that provides food, shelter, medical care, and other assistance for approximately 5.7 million Palestinians. The organization also provides vocational training and microfinancing for residents of Palestine and has been in operation since 1949. TechRaptor has encouraged its readers to donate to relief efforts earlier this month, including the UNRWA.
