Today Insomniac Games officially reacted to the data theft it recently suffered, which it defines as a "criminal cyberattack."

The developer posted on X (formerly Twitter) thanking the fans for the compassion and support expressed in the past week or so.

We hear that the creators of Marvel's Spider-Man, its sequel, and the upcoming Marvel's Wolverine are both saddened and angered by what transpired.

According to the message, Marvel's Wolverine is still in early production and it'll "greatly evolve" as development progresses from the build that some may have been exposed to.

The message ends with the promise that Insomniac will share more when the time is right.

Below you can read the message in its entirety.

Thank you for the outpouring of compassion and unwavering support. It's deeply appreciated.

We're both saddened and angered about the recent criminal cyberattack on our studio and the emotional toll it's taken on our dev team. We have focused inwardly for the last several days to support each other.

We are aware that the stolen data includes personal information belonging to our employees, former employees, and independent contractors. It also includes early development details about Marvel's Wolverine for PlayStation 5. We continue working quickly to determine what data was impacted.

This experience has been extremely distressing for us.

We want everyone to enjoy the games we develop as intended and as our players deserve. However, like Logan...Insomniac is resilient. Marvel's Wolverine continues as planned. The game is in early production and will no doubt greatly evolve throughout development, as do all our plans.

While we appreciate everyone's enthusiasm, we will share official information about Marvel's Wolverine when the time is right.
On behalf of everyone at Insomniac, thank you for your ongoing support during this challenging time.

We don't yet know much about Marvel's Wolverine, besides the fact that it'll come at some point down the line for PS5 and that it's set in the same universe as the Marvel's Spider-Man series, officially named Earth-1048

The game was originally announced in September 2021 during Sony's PlayStation Showcase with a brief trailer showing Logan sitting at a bar's counter after having beaten a bunch of thugs.

As one of them approaches him with a knife, our hero prepares to spring into action by unsheathing his claws.

As for the content of the stolen data, I don't have the slightest idea. I haven't touched it with a ten-foot pole and I encourage you to follow the same route.
