Developer Team Cherry has announced that Lifeblood, the new update to the Metroidvania game Hollow Knight is now available for PC users. Hollow Knight: Lifeblood is the result of months of tweaking the original version of the game, incorporating community feedback and adding in everything from new bosses to smaller, quality of life changes.
This major new update to Hollow Knight is completely free, and includes the following:
- A brand new boss with a new music track by Chris Larkin!
- One boss has been seriously upgraded. A true challenge awaits!
- Custom Map Markers are here! Cartographers rejoice!
- Extras added to the Extras menu!
- Numerous game balances and tweaks.
- Now playable in Japanese.
- Various bug fixes.
- Additional sound effects and voices.
- Optimisations and performance enhancements.
For Steam and GOG Galaxy users, your game will automatically update to include the new Lifeblood content. Humble and GOG DRM free users can download an updated version in the next 24 hours, from their Humble/GOG link (Lifeblood builds are going up now).
Hollow Knight: Lifeblood is just one in a series of free updates to the base game, with the developer also outlining the imminent release of another, Free Content Pack 3: Gods & Glory. The pack is said to be the largest one yet so stay tuned for further details. The studio has also spotlighted an awesome piece of fan art based on the game which you can view below:
Hollow Knight is an epic action-adventure through a vast ruined kingdom of insects and heroes. Explore twisting caverns, battle tainted creatures and befriend bizarre bugs, all in a classic, hand-drawn 2D style. The game came third in our Indie Game of the Year Awards back in 2017.
