Update: The next Helldivers 2 Major Order has arrived.

In a post on the game's official X account, Arrowhead Game Studios orders players to "activate the Terminid Control System", so now you know where your efforts in the galaxy should be focused.

Original story follows below.

Original story: Arrowhead Game Studios and Sony have released a new Helldivers 2 update, and while it might look like a relatively minor hotfix, it's bringing some pretty important balance changes.

Helldivers 2 has proven hugely popular, but its players still have their fair share of gripes, and this latest hotfix is aimed at addressing some of those gripes, particularly with reference to enemy spawn rates.

The first major change is a lowering of spawn rates for Chargers and Bile Titans if you're playing on difficulty level 7 or higher. This, Arrowhead says, is intended to make it so that players must account for anti-tank solutions but not "to the degree previously needed".

Although this update is altering spawn rates, Arrowhead says this will be balanced by other enemy types appearing more frequently, so the overall difficulty hasn't been lowered.

The Charger's head health has also been lowered so that players don't have to waste their anti-tank weaponry on the monster's legs, so you should no longer be struggling to take down Chargers quite as much.

Elsewhere, the Electronic Countermeasures operation modifier has been removed. Arrowhead says the modifier "wasn't communicated clearly enough" and was causing frustration among players. It'll be reintroduced later down the line.

In addition to everything outlined above, several smaller fixes and gameplay tweaks have also been implemented in this latest Helldivers 2 update. Be sure to check out the full patch notes on Steam for more.

If you're unfamiliar with Helldivers 2, it's a multiplayer-focused third-person shooter that serves as a followup to the isometric twin-stick shooter Helldivers.

As members of the Super Earth Armed Forces, players must band together to slaughter hordes of insects across a persistent campaign that takes them to planets with all kinds of different environments.

Since launch, the game has received a number of updates, adding features like planetary hazards, new Warbonds, and more, so this is a galactic campaign that's always evolving.

Helldivers 2 is available right now on PC and PlayStation 5. You can check out our review of the game here if you want to know whether it's worth enlisting, and we've also got some juicy guides on all things related to weapons and ship modules to help you get started.
