A new Helldivers 2 update has been deployed, and it's bringing new hazards to avoid while carrying out missions, as well as tons of balance changes and more.
The update comes hot on the heels of the announcement that mechs are coming to the immensely popular popular third-person shooter, and while this update doesn't add those mechs, it does have some fun goodies in store.
First up, you should now notice new environmental hazards while you're deployed on Helldivers 2 missions. These hazards include "fire tornadoes", "meteor showers", and more, so you'll have more than just bugs to contend with.
Planetary hazards are the big new draw for this update, but it also comes with a ton of balance changes intended to make your Helldivers 2 play experience smoother.
Eradicate missions, for instance, now need more kills, and enemies will spawn more frequently, which should make those missions longer. Developer Arrowhead says these missions were shorter than intended, so this should redress the balance.
A number of weapon balance changes have also been implemented; the Breaker, for example, has had its magazine capacity decreased and its recoil increased, while the Railgun's armor penetration in Safe Mode has been decreased.
You can also look forward to a slew of fixes, including improved flashlight efficacy, increased sand rain visibility on Erata Prime, and more.
The full list of Helldivers 2 patch notes for this update, which also includes a number of issues that Arrowhead is currently working to fix, can be found here. The patch is available now on PC, and the PS5 version will arrive "soon", according to Arrowhead.
If you're somehow unfamiliar with Helldivers 2, it's a multiplayer shooter which has taken the world by storm. You'll work alongside other players to complete a series of objectives across a persistent campaign, slaughtering different enemy types with "distinct and unpredictable characteristics, tactics, and behavior".
