While the missing DOOM Eternal soundtrack has been pretty bad news for fans of great gaming music, there's also some good news in the audio department today — the entire Half-Life soundtrack is now available for streaming.
The soundtracks from the following games are now available on multiple streaming services as reported by ResetEra:
- Half-Life 2
- Half-Life 2: Episode 1
- Half-Life 2: Episode 2
As noted on ResetEra, these soundtracks were the phenomenal work of the composer Kelly Bailey. Aside from the Half-Life games (Decay, Uplink, and Lost Coast included), Mr. Bailey also provided the soundtrack for Portal and worked as a sound designer for Left 4 Dead and Left 4 Dead 2.
Mr. Bailey's final contribution to music at Valve (and indeed, the gaming world at large) was composing the music for Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. CS:GO has consistently been in the top ten played games on Steam and currently holds the #1 position at the time of writing, beating out the second-place DotA 2 by nearly 300,000 current players.
One notable absence is the soundtrack for the upcoming game Half-Life: Alyx. It's understandable that it hasn't been added yet as the game isn't out, but one hopes that it will be added to this collection sooner rather than later.
