Grim Fandango, Day of the Tentacle Remastered

Continuing our coverage of the Playstation Experience, we are reporting on Double Fine's addition to the list. Double Fine, led by Tim Schafer is going to go back and instead of wasting getting money to make a new game are going to just remake old ones now!

Grim Fandango has been known to be in the works for a while but we got some new information on it this weekend from Tim Schafer himself who decided to take the stage to speak on the project. The game is getting a complete remastering and will be released on PC/Mac/Linux/Playstation 4 and PS Vita, and we now have a release date for it. January 27th will bring the classic Grim Fandango back for you to play on all of these platforms. The game does have as you can see in the trailer below higher resolution textures, and new lighting among other touch up work. Many fans are hoping as well that the controls might be addressed and improved, and of course that ideally that the pc version will not be stuck with controls built for a console.

Oh you wanted Day of the Tentacle news? Well there isn't a ton right now with just the fact that its being worked on being more or less released. Day of the Tentacle: Special Edition is being worked on by Double Fine and will be coming, at some point, if its not canceled for mysterious reasons, to the Playstation 4, PS Vita, and PC. No date of when it will be finished, or whatever passes for finished these days, but it will probably be a while given they gave no details, trailers or time frame for it. So don't be expecting it any time soon at least and it might be more likely to see in 2016.

Are you likely to buy one of these classic adventure games remastered to play on PS4/Vita/PC? Do you think that Double Fine is the right company to be doing these updates? Are you disappointed that this is a remaster on Grim Fandango and not a remake like Gabriel Knight got this year?
