Fans of isometric RPGs, your day has come. For a limited time, you'll get a free copy of UnderRail if you buy postmodern CRPG Disco Elysium on GOG. The deal ends on October 22nd, so make sure you grab your games before then.
UnderRail dev Stygian Software describes its game as an "old-school turn-based isometric indie RPG" with a focus on exploration and combat. It's set in a distant future in which humanity lives underground in the titular Underrail, a network of metro-based city-states. If you like Metro 2033 but wish it had a little more role-playing, UnderRail is for you. UnderRail's Expedition DLC also launched earlier this year. That's not included in the GOG deal, but you can grab it from GOG for a pretty good price.
Disco Elysium is a postmodern isometric RPG in which you play as a detective with a unique skill system. If you're a fan of open-ended role-playing games then Disco Elysium is paradise for you. The game's official GOG page promises a sprawling murder investigation to solve, but if you don't fancy that then you can also take on a huge amount of side-cases and ancillary activities. According to developer ZA/UM, only one of the game's combat scenarios is completely unavoidable. ZA/UM describes its game as "the most faithful representation of desktop role-playing ever attempted in video games".
Remember, the deal on Disco Elysium (formerly known as No Truce with the Furies) and UnderRail (sans DLC) runs until October 22nd at 5 pm UTC. If you want to get your money's worth on these isometric RPGs, make sure you do so before then. If you're still hankering for CRPGs, GOG also has Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire - Obsidian Edition up for grabs at 60% off right now. Go take a look if you're a role-playing fiend.
