CyberConnect2 has released a new trailer which reveals the Fuga: Melodies of Steel 2 release date. The trailer servers as something of a reintroduction to the game, showcasing its signature art style, brand new event system, and revamped battle mechanics. It's launching on May 11th.

In Fuga: Melodies of Steel 2, you'll board your erstwhile enemy, the Tarascus tank, in search of the errant Taranis. The latter tank, which served as your ally during the first game, "goes on a rampage", according to the trailer, leaving "atrocity and strife" in its wake. It's up to the remaining children to board the Tarascus and try to stop the Taranis before it causes any more damage.

There will be a host of new skills to look forward to in Fuga: Melodies of Steel 2, as well as a range of revamped skills from the first game. In addition, a new weapon, the Managarm, allows you to knock out one of the children aboard your tank in order to fire a deadly beam at your enemies. Looks like this followup will continue the juxtaposition of cute visuals and harrowing storytelling that Fuga: Melodies of Steel embraced.

Outside of combat, CyberConnect2 has introduced the new Judgment system, which lets you make choices that "affect the trajectory of the story", according to the trailer. Malt, the main character, will have plenty of decisions to make, and each of them will grant new skills or stat boosts, changing the way you approach combat.

Fuga: Melodies of Steel 2 launches for PC, PlayStation consoles, Xbox systems, and Nintendo Switch on May 11th. It'll also be available via Xbox Game Pass, so if you're a subscriber, you'll be able to play it at no additional cost. The game will come with standard and deluxe options, the latter of which will get you a digital art book, a soundtrack, and some extra gameplay perks, as well as sleepwear costumes for every character.
