A Forspoken demo appears to be on its way, if PlayStation Japan is to be believed. A now-deleted tweet from the Japanese wing of PlayStation revealed something called "Forspoken Demo Announcement Trailer", and since there's a Forspoken gameplay showcase arriving tomorrow, expect the demo to be officially unveiled there.
This news comes to us via Japanese Twitter news source Renka (thanks, Gematsu). Before PlayStation Japan's tweet was deleted, Renka managed to get a screenshot of the demo announcement trailer reveal. The screenshot contains entirely Japanese text, except for the video thumbnail, which is in English.
Of course, The Game Awards ceremony is airing this evening, so there's a chance the demo could be unveiled then. However, it's far more likely we'll see the reveal of the Forspoken demo during tomorrow's gameplay showcase, which Western PlayStation outlets have already announced. The date in the Japanese PlayStation tweet is December 10th, so a reveal during the showcase would make more sense.
If you haven't been keeping up with it, Forspoken is a new action RPG from Luminous Productions and Square Enix. It's being worked on by many of the staffers who helped to create Final Fantasy XV and it revolves around Frey, a young girl transported into a fantasy world and forced to fight for her survival.
Gameplay-wise, you can expect a heavy emphasis on parkour-style traversal, as well as varied combat that promises to accommodate different play styles. Frey will have access to magical abilities in combat thanks to Cuff, a sentient bracelet that also acts as Frey's companion throughout Forspoken.
Forspoken arrives on PlayStation 5 and PC on January 24th, assuming there are no further delays (which, if a demo is forthcoming, seems to be the case). An 11-minute gameplay showcase demonstrating some of the game's systems will also be available on the official PlayStation YouTube channel tomorrow at 1pm EST.
