D3 Publisher just announced that Earth Defense Force: World Brothers is getting a sequel, simply titled Earth Defense Force: World Brothers 2.
The game will release, at least in Japan, in 2024, for PS5, PS4, and Nintendo Switch. At the moment, a Western release has not been announced. It's developed by Yukes like its predecessor.
The game will feature elements from the latest mainline chapter of the series Earth Defense Force 6 (which is also awaiting localization, if it'll ever happen at this point) and from Earth Defense Force 4.1: Wingdiver the Shooter, which didn't appear in the previous game.
We'll meet over 100 "World Brothers" across over 100 missions and four-player battles will also return.
A new threat has caused an unprecedented crisis and the World Brothers from all over the world are gathering to launch an emergency mission to counter the new menace. You can see what it looks like in the trailer below.
Incidentally, the game will be officially presented at Tokyo Game Show 2023, and is part of the celebrations for the 20th anniversary of the Earth Defense Force series, which originally debuted in 2002.
There's certainly a possibility that more EDF announcements will be made then, but for the moment, we'll have to wait and see. TechRaptor will be at TGS, so you can expect full reports about all the relevant announcements.
