Earth Defense Force 6 has been announced as the newest core entry to the bug-blasting franchise, and that's not all — Earth Defense Force: World Brothers will be arriving even sooner than that!
If you've never heard of Earth Defense Force, well... that's certainly understandable as it's a bit of a cult series with a small but dedicated audience. Still, it's pretty damn cool — check out the Earth Defense Force 5 trailer for the previous core entry in the franchise to get a feel for what the game is all about.
So yeah. Big bugs invade Earth and you shoot them. A lot.
As Game Informer reports, not one, but two of these campy B-Movie games have been announced. Details on the content of the individual games are light save for what we can see from screenshots.
What we do know is that Sandlot will be continuing to develop the franchise with their work on Earth Defense Force 6 as they have over the last decade. Meanwhile, Yuke's will be handling Earth Defense Force: World Brothers in part; this company previously handled the Japanese releases of the WWE 2K franchise.
When is the Earth Defense Force 6 Release Date?
So, when will you be able to play the next core Earth Defense Force game? Unfortunately, all we have is a rough release window. You can expect to get your hands on the next game in this fantastic franchise sometime in 2021. No platforms have been announced just yet, nor do we know if it is getting a Western release.
When is the Earth Defense Force: World Brothers Release Date?
Lest we forget, there are two games in the EDF franchise coming out this year! We know a little bit more about Earth Defense Force: World Brothers is going to be launching on the PS4 and Nintendo Switch sometime this year. Much like EDF 6, we don't yet know the price or if it will be getting a Western release.
