Dracula's Castle

Dracula's Castle, a colony simulator management game, will be launching on Steam sometime in 2022. That seems far away, but we're in November now. This year has just flown by, eh? Like a bat.

Interestingly, this isn't the only vampire simulator that's in the works. Vampire Clans is fairly similar, but it's set in Paris instead of Transylvania, and there's a "vampire family" instead of just Dracula, who is managing his dark domain, recruiting minions, and expanding his castle. Instead of the focus on clan, Dracula's Castle delves into the lore of classic Dracula, and having you stalk your minions from the nearby territory.

"I wanted to make an accessible management game but I also wanted to take a deep dive into some of the vampire lore that I sort of really fell in love with in the early 90's." said Daragh Wickham of Astirian-Rae Games. "I'm a huge fan of the kind of classical take on vampires -- you know, the sort of pre-industrial era, dawn of the new world space. Lots of harpsichord. And I'm tremendously excited to wrap that feeling around some of the RPG elements that usually tend to sit well with the base building genre."

As the castle is expanded, players will be able to use new mechanics. Using The Alchemist, for example, will allow players to unlock the bat cave and improve Dracula's Mist Form. It'll also let equip him with mystical tools that will aid him in recruiting an army of servants to serve your every whim.

It won't be easy, though: Van Helsing, angry mobs, and town militia is or will be after you. You'll also have the chance to entrap Jonathan Harker as a "guest" of your castle, and stalk through Transylvania while customizing your attributes such as Power, Cunning, Speed, Charm, and Magick.
