Downwell, a game where you (to the surprise of no one) go down a well, will be making its way to the Nintendo Switch according to a tweet from publisher Devolver Digital.

If you haven't had the pleasure of playing Downwell, it's an interesting little title with a simple premise. There's a well, and the well has treasure somewhere at the bottom. Armed only with your gunboots, you'll venture into the depths blasting away enemies and navigating precarious procedurally-generated levels in your quest for riches. Have a look at the game's launch trailer to see what it's all about:

Thanks to Downwell, I now know of three games where absolute madmen strapped guns to their feet.

Downwell is so far the first and only game developed by Moppin. Our review of the PC version called it "a fun platformer game that will test your reflexes as well as your patience".

The Nintendo Switch is a portable device and this title is very much a game that's possible to play on the go - it initially released for iOS alongside its PC version. Devolver confirmed in a follow-up tweet that players would be able to enjoy the game on the Switch with a vertical orientation:

If you're not keen on waiting for the Nintendo Switch version of the game, you can grab Downwell 50% off on Steam for the low price of $1.49 or your regional equivalent until September 18. You can also pick it up for full price at the Humble Store and DRM-free digital distributor GOG and mobile users can get it on iTunes for iOS & on the Play Store for Android.
