Bad news out of Microsoft, as the green team has confirmed to Polygon that Crackdown 3 will no longer be hitting the Xbox One X launch window. The open world shooter that had a brief showing at E3 this year will now hit stores in Spring of 2018. Here is Microsoft Studios Publishing general manager Shannon Loftis to explain the delay.
"We’re very excited about Crackdown 3, and so are many fans, and so it’s a difficult call to move the release date. However, we want to make sure to deliver the right game, with the right quality, and at the right time. Crackdown 3 is a hugely ambitious game and we want to ensure we deliver the right experiences all the way through every part of the game, whether that’s campaign, co-op multiplayer or our competitive multiplayer mode, Wrecking Zone. Getting the balance right between the three modes is important, and we are going to take the extra development time to ensure that."Crackdown 3 has suffered from multiple delays in the past and was originally announced in June of 2014 as Crackdown. The original pitch for the game focused on cloud based technology that has been superseded by the enhanced power of Microsoft's latest console.
