Circana has released its usual monthly sales roundup for November 2023, and you'll never guess which game has managed to claim the top spot for last month.
That's right: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 was the best-selling game of November, at least according to Circana's Mat Piscatella.
Obviously, this doesn't come as much of a surprise, especially when considering that Modern Warfare 3 boasts the highest player engagement across the whole, er, modern Modern Warfare trilogy.
According to Piscatella and Circana, the best-selling game year-to-date in November 2023 was, of course, Hogwarts Legacy, as befits a game which was Google's most-searched game of the entire year.
The thread doesn't contain individual platform-by-platform sales data, but we do know that the most-played game on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S in November was, according to Circana, Fortnite.
Again, that's not surprising given that the game's OG season broke records by attracting 100 million players.
Bear in mind that this data predates the introduction of Lego Fortnite, Rocket Racing, and Fortnite Festival, which will no doubt lead Fortnite to greatness once more in December.
On Steam, the most-played game is Counter-Strike 2, with Lethal Company coming in second and Baldur's Gate 3 in third. As a reminder, Fortnite isn't available on Steam, which probably explains its absence in this particular chart.
The best-selling hardware platform for both unit and dollar sales in November 2023 was, of course, the PS5. The Xbox Series X|S ranks second.
Mobile gaming remains hugely lucrative, too, with games like Monopoly GO!, Royal Match, and Roblox continuing their popularity and resulting in a "modest increase" in mobile gaming spending of 2.6% compared to last year.
