If you're a Steam user looking to try out Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 multiplayer now is probably the best time for it. Activision is offering competitive multiplayer component, minus a few features, of Black Ops 3 exclusively on Steam for $14.99 until February 29, but the game will not be removed from your library after the 29th.  The pack gets you access to public ranked multiplayer matches, the Weapon Paint Shop, Gunsmith, Arena, Freerun, Theater, and Black Market (because they're definitely not going to leave out microtransactions).

Black Ops 3 Starter Pack

The Black Ops 3 starter pack does NOT include the single-player campaign, zombies, multiplayer custom games, access to mod tools or modded content, access to the unranked server browser when it gets released, the ability to Fresh Start your profile, nor Dead Ops Arcade 2 or Nightmares mode. Neither does the pack  allow you to Prestige after you hit rank 55 in multiplayer.

If, after you've gotten a taste for the games multiplayer, you want to get the full game you can choose one of two ways to upgrade, both of which have the price of the starter pack taken off the original price. The first option is the standard edition upgrade which will cost $45, and the second option is the Digital Deluxe edition that includes the Season Pass, which will run $85. Keep in mind Black Ops 3 DLC content will release 30 days after it releases on PlayStation 4.

If you're someone new to Call of Duty, but wants to try it out then the Black Ops 3 multiplayer starter pack is definitely for you. You will basically be getting the full multiplayer experience for just $15 with the option to upgrade if it turns out you really enjoy Black Ops 3 competitive multiplayer, and want more.

Quick Take

This is a pretty smart move by Activision to get people who don't want to throw down $60 on a game they might not enjoy to try it out and possibly get them interested in future Call of Duty titles. Activision is probably also looking to boost the number of PC players seeing as that number has been under 400k for the past two weeks, which is actually much better how Star Wars Battlefront is doing. Not being able to Prestige might put off some people, but you won't actually be missing out on anything important there other than cosmetic things. If you've thought about trying out a Call of Duty game and have $15 laying around this is definitely something you should at least look into, especially since this Call of Duty is streets ahead of Ghosts and Advanced Warfare
