Today Larian Studios has revealed its plans for future updates of its ultra-successful RPG Baldur's Gate 3, and there's a lot on the menu.

According to the extensive post on Steam, the next update (simply defined Patch 2) will bring a "more fleshed out" optional ending for Karlach, defined as "fiery, poignant, and gives her the ending she deserves."

On top of that, Patch 2 2 will bring performance improvements across the entire game, but more specifically where it's really needed, in act 3. This is not the end of the process, as Larian plans to work on further performance gains for Act 3 throughout September

Another relevant element that's going to be fixed with Patch 2 are reactions by companions to certain events that fail to trigger, causing players to miss on content that's actually already in the game. Minthara is one of the worst offenders in this field.

Going further down the line, the developer plans to expand the epilogue further. We learn that it was actually trimmed because the developers believed it was getting too long, "detracting from the epicness of the experience," but since many players seem to disagree, they're going to change course on this.

Larian also promises to keep monitoring bug and to act on them as quickly as possible, including hotfixes. On top of that, they'll also make improvements based on player feedback.

One of the first examples is "Withers’ Wardrobe of Wayward Friends" which will be introduced in a major patch "very soon."

A funny faux "ad" for Withers’ Wardrobe of Wayward Friends

The wardrobe lets you get rid of multiplayer party members after they have joined your party and the co-op session has concluded, so they won't be in the way. On top of that, the developers are also working on letting us change the look of our characters post-creation.

Baldur's Gate 3 is currently available for PC, while a PS5 version will come on September 6. An Xbox Series X|S version will also come at some point this year after a blocking issue has been circumvented.

If you'd like to learn more about the game, you can read our review, in which our Erren Van Duine defined the game as "a masterful experience filled to the brim with player choice, a deep narrative and expansive world building."
