New developer Mighty Boy Studio has announced its first title, an ambitious-looking action RPG by the name of Babylon X.

The studio is staffed by luminaries from outfits like Evil West's Flying Wild Hog, Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous' Owlcat, and Saber Interactive.

Babylon X will feature a robust magic system.

In a press release, Mighty Boy says Babylon X will take inspiration from 90s Hollywood action-adventure movies, as well as classic JRPGs like Final Fantasy.

The game takes place in an alternate-history Ancient World in which the discovery of magic has led to major (and anachronistic) technological advancements in ancient civilizations.

You'll play as runaway slave Samson and young priestess Leykah, both of whom are trying to avert the doom of their world.

Despite the scale of the story, Mighty Boy says Babylon X will tell "a simple human story" with an "emotional and personal tone". You can check out the debut trailer for the game right here.

In gameplay terms, Babylon X will offer a wide range of customization options for both Samson and Leykah, including their gadgets, abilities, and weapons.

The game will take place in a semi-open world in which you'll use something called the GraviOrb to manipulate gravity and explore your environments.

That item can also be used in combat, although Mighty Boy is staying rather tight-lipped about how you'll be able to do that.

Other elements you can look forward to include semi-tactical action RPG combat, puzzles to solve, and "intelligent NPCs" to interact with.

It all sounds rather ambitious, so here's hoping that Mighty Boy Studio can pull it off, especially given that this will be the studio's first ever project.

At the close of the debut trailer, Mighty Boy says Babylon X is coming to "consoles and PC", so we can likely expect it for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S (as well as PC, of course) at the very least. Stay tuned for more on this one.
