The celebrations of EVO 2023 have just started and fans of anime fighting game got the first news bright and early with Under Night In-Birth II Sys:Celes.

The brand new chapter of the iconic 2D anime fighting franchise by Japanese developer French Bread will release in early 2024 for PS5, PS4, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam. It'll be published by Arc System Works.

At the moment, we know that the game will feature new story content, new systems, and new playable characters, on top of the popular rollback netcode, which will surely please the fans.

The announcement was accompanied by a trailer, which you can enjoy below. It'll probably feel very familiar to the fans of the series, showing several returning characters and the first gameplay.

The Under Night In-Birth series debuted in the Japanese arcades in 2012 by French Bread, a developer that started its career as a doujin circle known for the Melty Blood series, the Dengeki Bunko Fighting Climax series, the super-cute 2003 action game Drill Molky Punch featuring characters from the Muv-Luv series, and more.

It has received several iterations since its debut, the latest of which being Under Night In-Birth Exe:Late cl-r in 2020. The series has become increasingly popular as of late due to the growth of visibility of the anime fighting game sub-genre and has even earned its place among EVO's featured games.
