Today Billy Basso and Bigmode Games announced a release date for their stylish pixel art game Animal Well

The game will release on on May 9 for PC, PS5, and Nintendo Switch.

The price has also been announced, and you'll be able to grab this labor of love for $24.99, €24,50, or £20.99 depending on where you live.

If you're aiming to play on a PC, you may be happy to learn that Steam Deck is fully supported.

The announcement was accompanied by a statement from Billy Basso himself recounting seven years of solo development that went into creating this cozy and attractive game.

I started development on ANIMAL WELL seven years ago and spent the majority of my evenings and weekends since that time working on it. I quit my day job about 2 years ago to finish the game and couldn’t be prouder of how the game turned out. This has been my passion for a long time, and I’m so excited to finally share it with the world.

We also get a nifty trailer, which you can enjoy below and see why many are anxiously waiting for this game.

If you want to learn more about Animal Well, we actually have not one, but two previews, one from PAX East 2023, and one from the other side, PAX West.

The game focuses on puzzle solving and comes with a lot of secrets to uncover, and provides the player with a lot of freedom to explore in any order and approach a variety of situations in different ways.

Since its announcement back in February 2022, Animal Well has drawn a lot of attention, and it'll be interesting to see if it lives up to expectations. Our Austin Suther definitely appears to think so after playing the demo back in September.
