Today Remedy Entertainment released a brand-new video about Alan Wake 2, focusing on Alan Wake himself and the Dark Place.
We got a glimpse of today's topic in the trailer showcased at Gamescom's Opening Night Live.
We hear from the developers, including Sam Lake himself, as they explain the situation we'll find the protagonist of the first game in as we play the new one.
He's basically stuck in the Dark Place, and it's manifesting as a nightmarish version of New York with several locations and even characters from Alan's own novels. It's also full of old-school graffiti from the 70s and 80s designed to send messages to the player and Alan himself.
The Dark Place has been created in a way to make the player feel uneasy, as Alan is "really really lost, and really really struggling" as Sam Lake mentions. He's trying to find a way out by writing, which is the only tool he has.
While the other protagonist Saga Anderson is fighting for her life, Alan is fighting for his sanity. Plaers may feel relieved when they go back to Saga after playing Alan, even if the Pacific Northwest where she's conducting her investigation is still a dangerous place.
We also hear from Ikka Villi and Matthew Porretta, respectively the performance capture actor and voice actor of Alan Wake.
You can watch the video below.
Alan Wake 2 will release exclusively digitally on PC (via Epic Games Store), PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. It has recently been delayed by a few days from its original launch date of October 17 to October 27.
