Phantasy Star Online 2 is a free-to-play futuristic MMORPG featuring fast-paced action combat. Players take on a variety of roles, beam down to a variety planets, and engage in missions. Notable features include a robust character creation system, unique gameplay for each of the nine starting classes, and many, many cosmetics. After several years in Japan, an English version was released as an Xbox One exclusive in North America April 2020, with a PC release in late May 2020. While the game and its content is free to download and play, some quality-of-life features such as extra MAGs, server transfers, and Skill Tree resets cost real money.
Players can use a wide variety of Photon Arts (special attacks) and Techniques (futuristic space-magic) to devastate enemies and support their allies. Phantasy Star Online 2's content focuses heavily on PvE and instanced quests with a central hub. Most content takes place in single-party zones (four-person cap) but there are typically multi-party zones (12-person cap) included as well.
With four races and nine classes, there is a wide array of play styles available.
