Black Friday 2018 is upon us, and you know what that means: scores and scores of deals galore. Nobody loves an excuse for a good sale like digital PC gaming retailers, but there's a whole lot of deals out there and no easy way to know which ones to go for.
That is, until now. We're looking at some of the best PC gaming deals you can grab this Black Friday from top-flight digital retailers. There are some serious discounts here, but a lot of these are flash sales, so blink and you'll miss 'em. We'll update this page regularly, adding new deals and taking down the ones that aren't valid any more. Without further ado, here are some of the best PC gaming deals this Black Friday.
Update: We've swapped a few deals around, removed some that aren't running any more and added some more we love. Take another look!
Green Man Gaming
Let's kick things off with our reliable friends over at Green Man Gaming. Plenty of huge triple-A releases are on offer at Green Man Gaming for you to get your teeth into, including current releases. Take a trip into the mists of Ancient Greek history with Assassin's Creed Odyssey, up for grabs at 35% off its standard retail price. If you prefer something a little more fantastical, then perhaps the high-octane giant-slaying and stealthy tracking of Monster Hunter World (23% off) would suit your tastes; it certainly suited ours.
Over in Lara Croft's danger-riddled environs, Shadow of the Tomb Raider is 50% off; we thought this one was well worth experiencing. Those with the stomach for something more brutal should pick up Dark Souls 3: Deluxe Edition (70% off), which packs in the base game plus its monstrously difficult DLC. TechRaptor's Perry enjoyed Dark Souls 3, but doesn't recommend it to neophytes, so let this be a warning to you. Perhaps your mind is better suited to strategizing than all this running around fighting people. If so, Civilization VI can be had for 50% off, so fill your boots (or get your peons to fill them for you).
There are just too many great deals to list all of them here, so if the likes of Fallout 4: Game of the Year Edition (60% off), Nier Automata (50% off) and Ark: Survival Evolved (67% off) don't tickle your fancy, there's bound to be something that will over at Green Man Gaming. These deals are all good until the 27th November, so you've still got a little time to decide (although why you'd need it we don't know).
Here's the best of the rest from GMG:
- XCOM 2: War of the Chosen - 50% off (requires XCOM 2 to play, but that's available at 75% off, so you may as well get it, and check out TR's review while you're at it)
- Just Cause 3: XL Edition - 70% off (TR's review here)
- Far Cry 5 - 50% off (TR's review here)
- Kerbal Space Program - 60% off (TR's review here)
- Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen - 70% off (TR's review here)
The good folks at Fanatical may no longer be called Bundle Stars, but they're still stellar at putting together some excellent deals. Fanatical is flash deal central this Black Friday, so you'll need to be quick if you want to snap these up. First up, it's the excellent BioShock Collection, which collects the original BioShock, its direct sequel BioShock 2 (sans multiplayer), and its spiritual successor BioShock Infinite, all of which are well worth playing. This collection can be yours for a staggering 75% off its standard price and is live until the 28th November; the discount is slightly less than the Black Friday-tastic 78%, but it's only 3% so well worth a punt.
Speaking of top-notch storytelling, Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus continues the sky-high narrative standards set by its predecessor and is a superlative first-person shooter to boot. You can grab Wolfenstein II plus the Season Pass for 67% off its regular price. You have until November 27th to liberate America (and the world) from Nazi rule, so step into the shoes of BJ Blazkowicz once more and finish the fight.
All is not well in Mordor, surprise surprise, so it's up to Talion and his ghost elf buddy to fix it again in the Definitive Edition of Middle-Earth: Shadow of War (60% off). The return of the orc-centric Nemesis System plus a well-told Lord of the Rings ancillary tale make this open-world game a real steal at this price (we thought so at the time of its release, too). The Definitive Edition packs in the game's four DLC packs, and more Mordor for your money is always great. For those of a more sociopathic nature, there's rather wonderful murder sandbox Hitman 2, which is up for grabs at 20% off. Just steer clear of Sean Bean. Obviously, there are way more incredible deals than we could shake our writing stick at, so please do visit Fanatical and make your wallet cry.
Some deals we didn't get the chance to proselytize about:
- Dishonored 2 - 70% off (TR's review here)
- Vanquish - 68% off (TR's review here)
- Bayonetta - 68% off (TR's review here)
- Pillars of Eternity: Definitive Edition - 52% off (TR's review here)
- Resident Evil 7: Gold Edition - 45% off (TR's review here)
Fire up your spaceship and come with us on an expedition to the Gamesplanet, where flash deals roam unchecked and Black Friday is serving up some real money-saving bargains. Let's start big with Paradox's grand strategy bonanza Europa Universalis IV, which can be yours for a staggering 81% off its standard retail price. If you like your history a bit more recent, then Paradox's also-excellent Hearts of Iron IV: Cadet Edition is up for grabs at 67% off.
If you don't fancy guiding the fate of an entire nation, then maybe the smaller-scale Lego DC Super Villains (60% off) can tempt you. TR's very own Samuel quite liked this brick-based adventure, and one can never have too much Lego in one's life after all. For those who prefer a more realistic team-based tactical approach to their mayhem, there's Rainbow Six Siege, which can be yours for 66% off its regular price (and which will remain intact for the foreseeable future).
Soccer fans can fill their (soccer) boots with PES 2019 (60% off), while those of a more combative disposition can finally settle those Dragon Ball playground disputes with Dragon Ball FighterZ, yours at 62% off. TR's Alex Santa Maria liked this game very much, so we urge you to grab it while it's even more worth it than usual. For those who like to take a punt on less known quantities, turn-based offering Skyshine's Bedlam is up for grabs at 77% off. It's a curate's egg to be sure, but worth a try at such a low price.
All of the above deals are flash sales, and they'll all go up in smoke on November 25th, so make sure to put your money where your...erm...eyes are before you lose your chance. Here's our pick of the rest in case none of these tempt you:
- God Eater 2: Rage Burst + God Eater Resurrection - 78% off (TR's review here)
- Naruto to Boruto: Shinobi Striker - 45% off
- Ace Combat: Assault Horizon - Enhanced Edition - 76% off
- Tom Clancy's The Division - 76% off (TR's review here)
- Watch Dogs 2 - 70% off (TR's review here) (not available in US or Canada)
