Ubisoft will cease production of physical toys across all platforms for Starlink: Battle for Atlas, citing disappointing sales.

The news came via a blog post on the game's official website. In the post, Ubisoft thanks its fans for showing love to the new content announced during the February Nintendo Direct presentation. Ubisoft says it's "incredibly proud" of the technology it developed to create the physical toys-to-life line. Despite fans' enthusiasm and the devs' pride, the company says Starlink: Battle for Atlas sales "fell below expectations". As a result, Ubisoft won't be releasing any additional physical toys for the game. This applies to the upcoming update and all future content updates.

This doesn't mean Ubisoft is ending support for Starlink: Battle for Atlas. The blog post says devs are "currently hard at work" on the game's biggest update yet, which will offer new digital ships, pilots, and weapons for players to collect. In addition, players can look forward to new content updates such as additional missions and challenges, as well as new activities inspired by community suggestions. Starlink: Battle for Atlas doesn't require physical toys to play, so if you're a fan of the game this shouldn't affect you too seriously (hey, it might even improve your experience). Still, it's a bummer for collectors.

Starlink: Battle for Atlas was originally released in October 2018 for PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. The game takes place in the Atlas star system and sees players battling the evil Forgotten Legion. Originally, a line of toys-to-life was created for Starlink which players could use to gain additional ships, pilots, and weaponry. The Nintendo Switch version of the game exclusively features a crossover with the Star Fox series, which sees Fox and his crew giving assistance to players as they track antagonist Wolf O'Donnell.
