Initially announced in September of 2016, Super Mario Run allows you to play as the titular character and navigate through platforming levels on your mobile device. Gameplay consists of tapping on the screen to jump at the appropriate moment so as to avoid obstacles. It features three distinct gameplay modes. In World Tour, players will navigate through 24 courses in six separate worlds as part of the classic quest to save Princess Peach from King Bowser’s clutches. Toad Rally Mode is a remix of the original gameplay where players will try to beat levels in a stylish fashion while a crowd of Toads cheer them on. Finally, the Kingdom Builder mode allows players to flesh out a kingdom to their liking using coins that they’ve earned while playing the game.
The Android version of the game is going to feature the same pricing model as the iOS version. You’ll be able to access the first few levels for free, but gaining access to the entire game will require a one-time purchase of $9.99 or your regional equivalent. There are also microtransactions in the game in the form of Rally Tickets for the Toad Rally game mode (although the tickets can be earned through normal gameplay).
The game initially opened for pre-registration on Android back in December of 2016. If you’re anxious to get your hands on Super Mario Run on your Android device, you can pre-register on the game’s Google Play Store page to be notified once the game is live on that platform.
