A different kind of nerf will be coming to Overwatch - Hasbro has struck a deal for licensed Overwatch goods alongside The LEGO Group and UNIQLO (a Japanese-based clothing store) according to a press release from Activision Blizzard.

Blizzard Entertainment's popular first-person shooter Overwatch is no stranger to licensed products - the Blizzard Gear Store has its fair share of clothes, toys, and collectibles, some of which are created by companies who had previously secured a licensing agreement such as Funko. The existing lineup of licensing partners is being joined by LEGO, NERF, and UNIQLO who are set to produce more branded goods based on the game in the future.

What exactly the NERF products will be is not entirely known, but I'd put good money on dart guns or foam weapons that are replicas of some of Overwatch's most iconic armaments. (They're going to make a killing on Hellfire Shotguns alone, I'm sure.) The game's official Twitter account announced that we'll be seeing NERF Rival Blasters to kick things off. This particular NERF gun has already been made available for sale with Deadpool branding, so odds are we'll be seeing something similar for this game.

The LEGO Group has stated that they have plans for multiple themed sets at varying price points, likely in a similar fashion to existing licensing arrangements with other media properties. As for the clothing store UNIQLO, they will be including Overwatch-based apparel as one of many various IPs in their Spring/Summer 2018 clothing line.

The increase in licensed Overwatch products is billed by Activision Blizzard as a "significant expansion". Of course, other Activision Blizzard IPs like Call of Duty are getting a similar round of treatment as one would expect. Interestingly, e-sports is being considered as an area where licensed goods can be created for interested fans to buy - the Overwatch League, in particular, was highlighted as something that has a lot of potential for branded merchandise.

We don't know much more about the specific products just yet. We'll be sure to hear about them in the coming months.

What sort of Overwatch LEGO sets do you think we'll see? Would you be interested in buying NERF replicas of your favorite guns from the game? Let us know in the comments below!
