Metro Exodus documentary is today’s piece of news about Metro Exodus in a weeklong series of announcements from developer 4A games and publisher Deep Silver. Titled The Making of Metro Exodus, the documentary gives us some behind the scenes insights into the team behind the game and what they think about this upcoming first-person shooter that’s expected to launch this February.

The first episode of the Metro Exodus documentary is now available to watch on YouTube, so go ahead and give it a look!

A news post on the game’s Steam Community page tells us that we’ll get to see some never before seen footage of developers from 4A games. The documentary opens with some scenery surrounding the offices of 4A Games in Kyiv, Ukraine. One can easily see the sources of their inspiration for some of the dilapidated architecture that makes up post-apocalyptic Russia.

The developers clearly love their job. Their talk of the early days at 4A games gives a sense of disquieting uncertainty. While many of the individual developers had plenty of experience, 4A Games as a studio was an unknown quantity in the gaming world. A publisher taking on the job of getting Metro 2033 out the door was a big risk, but it certainly seems to have paid off in spades now that the third game in the franchise is almost ready to go.

It’s rare that we get to see much from the people who make the games we love so much. The Metro Exodus documentary shows us that many developers are just as passionate about making games as we are about playing them.

Episode 1 of The Making of Metro Exodus can now be watched on YouTube. There will be three episodes in total, although we don’t yet know when we’ll get to see the other two episodes from this film. Odds are we’ll get them in the coming weeks as we get closer to the launch of Metro Exodus.

This documentary is just one of many pieces of Metro Exodus news that we’ve seen throughout the week. We’ve also learned that the game will have a photo mode on consoles and PC, a special Xbox One X bundle featuring all three games from the franchise, and an ultra-rare “Artyom Edition” that only a handful of fans can win through special contests.
