It’s that time once again! While Xbox Gold subscribers have been busy looting the high seas and running for their lives with last month‘s selections, Major Nelson has announced the lineup for August’s Games with Gold. Over the course of August, Xbox One gamers will be set up with the Xbox debut of Slime Rancher, Ubisoft’s sci-fi BMX puzzler Trials Fusion, Platinum Games’ signature character actioner Bayonetta, and the most recent game in the Red Faction series with Armageddon.

Xbox One

Slime Rancher made its original debut on Steam Early Access in January of last year to a positive reception and a host of updates. It later came to Xbox’s game preview program, and its full release comes on August 1st on all platforms. At the beginning of the month, you’ll be able to capture all manner of slimes in this space farming simulator from Monomi Park.

On the 16th of August, gamers will get the chance to ride into Trials Fusion. This future tinged expansion to the bike balancing formula was a hit with fans and critics alike (including ours). The base game has a host of levels, and there are five expansion packs that range from only mildly offbeat to unicorn craziness.

Xbox 360

Xbox 360 gamers will get to experience the flawless action that just recently came to Steam on August 1st with Bayonetta. Our reviewer scored the game a 9/10 earlier this year, praising the “high-octane action game” for how much it holds up in a modern context. You can see for yourself when one of Platinum’s best is available for download in just a few days.

Rounding out the lineup, Red Faction: Armageddon is an interesting callback to a bygone era. The original THQ was still hanging in there, Red Faction was due to become a transmedia franchise with a presence on TV, and everyone was highly awaiting the sequel to the cult hit Red Faction: Guerrilla. While Volition’s final Red Faction game didn’t quite live up to those expectations, it’s still a well made third person shooter that’s worth a second look with fresh eyes.

What do you think about August’s golden game selections? What games are you still waiting on getting the GwG treatment? Let us know in the comments below!
