Major Nelson has just announced via his blog the first of the new Xbox One bundles to be released this holiday season. As well as this announcement he has also reiterated that a new Xbox One bundle will be announced every day this week.

Monday’s new bundle is the Xbox One Rise of the Tomb Raider bundle. This Xbox One bundle contains the following:

  • 1 TB Hard Drive edition Xbox One
  • A full game download for Rise of the Tomb Raider that is scheduled for release on November 10th
  • The exclusive Tactical Survival Kit Content Pack, which has a new outfit and weapon skin to use in Rise of the Tomb Raider
  • A full game download for Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition the HD-er remake of Gen 7’s Tomb Raider

This bundle will be available for the Xbox One starting in November for $399 and will be available exclusively through the Microsoft Store and at Best Buy and through participating retailers outside of the U.S, except for Canada, China and the UK.

Rise of the Tomb Raider is the first holiday game to be bundled with this week of announcements. This bundle joins all of the current bundles including the Halo 5 Guardians bundle, Forza Motorsport 6 bundle and the Gears of War: Ultimate Edition bundle.

Quick Take

This is just another step in the right direction for Microsoft trying to give people who are unsure of whether they want to either move to current gen or aren’t sure to try another console. These bundles, as well as the ones that we will be seeing this week, will probably appeal to all types of gamers and include other potential holiday hits like Fallout 4, Star Wars: Battlefront and Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege. Some of these games like Fallout 4 and Rainbow Six Siege would probably come with digital versions of previous games in the franchise for backwards compatibility.

What do you think of the Rise of the Tomb Raider bundle? What game should Microsoft bundle that would make you buy and Xbox One? What bundles do you think will be announced this week?

I have been playing all kinds of games for as long as I can remember with a particular interest in action adventure and platforming titles. While I am primarily an Xbox gamer I also spend a fair bit of time on the PS4 and on my PC in VR.
