If you’ve been using Discord lately, you may have noticed its shiny new storefront. This store features several “First on Discord” games, and now the service will also offer early access to five new titles.
The first title is Descenders, an extreme freeriding game with procedurally generated environments. Think Trials in a complete 3D environment, where you have to do insane tricks on all different kinds of obstacles. Players can even join one of three teams and gain reputation, granting special gear and prizes.
Next up is Parkasaurus, we previewed last September. It’s a vibrant, colorful dinosaur park construction game. You’ll not only have to make exhibits catering to specific dinosaurs, but you’ll have to manage the logistics of your park as well.
The Kickstarter-backed Kynseed, developed by ex-Lionhead Studios employees, is an RPG adventure that spans the ages. You aren’t limited to one protagonist; in fact, there will be many, as you will eventually age and die of (hopefully) natural causes. It takes inspiration from British folklore, so there’s fantasy elements that’ll make for a mysterious adventure.
A direct contrast to these last three titles Visage, a dark psychological horror game. It takes place in a mysterious, changing house, but I’ll let this interesting description speak for itself:
The game focuses on exploration and builds tension slowly to create a deeper and more meaningful experience. Its story is unveiled through surreal imaging and subtle environment details. Be mindful that it is a difficult game in unconventional ways.
Last but not least is Mad Machines, which was previously unveiled in the First on Discord lineup. Think robot gladiators meets Rocket League. The ultimate goal is to knock a giant spikey ball into the goal with your team.
These five titles are the first wave of Discord Early Access games, so expect more to be announced in the future.
