Dark Souls III‘s first downloadable content will be available today after a leak on October 21 made Ashes of Ariandel available for download early to Season Pass owners on Xbox One for a small amount of time.
In a statement given to GameSpot, Bandai Namco stated a logistical error led to the DLC being made available to Xbox One owners for a brief time.
Due to a logistical error, the Dark Souls III Ashes of Ariandel DLC was made available for download for a short period of time for Xbox One players. We have since corrected this scheduling error and the Dark Souls III Ashes of Ariandel DLC will now be available on October 24, 2016 at 3 PM PDT for Steam players and October 24, 2016 at 9 PM PDT for console players. We regret any confusion this may have caused to players and Dark Souls III fans; we look forward to seeing everyone within the world of Ariandel.
Dark Souls III owners can experience the Ashes of Ariandel DLC a day ahead of its scheduled release. It’s the first of two announced DLC releases, with the second coming in the first half of 2017. Ashes of Ariandel is available for $14.99, or players can purchase the season pass for $24.99 to get immediate access all future downloadable content without further purchases.
Ashes of Ariandel features a new area for players to explore. It has 16 new weapons and shields, five new sets of armor, four new spells, a player vs player exclusive map and more. The Ashes of Ariandel trailer is below, not that a hype injection is necessary among Souls fans. The DLC will be available on Steam at 3pm PDT and on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One at 9pm PDT.
