Crackdown 3 came out last week to almost no fanfare and received pretty average reviews despite being fronted by CGI Terry Crews. Now with not even a week gone by since its release and you can already get it online for nearly as little as 50% as the original retail price was supposed to be, in the United Kingdom at least.

You can get your hands on a copy of Crackdown 3 on ebay right now for only £30 pounds, under $40 dollars, which is practically unheard of for a modern triple-A game so close to release. The sales are so far reported to be less than 10% of what Crackdown 2 sold last generation, and considering the smaller size of the market back in 2010 when the previous title was released it is even more pronounced.

Some of the blame has been laid at Microsoft's feet with a perceived lack of advertising or other marketing for the game as discussed by fans on reddit in the days and weeks leading up to release date. Others have claimed that the drop in price is due to Crackdown 3 being available on Game Pass on release day, where it was the most-played premium game of the week last week, despite its entirely underwhelming physical sales figures.

Regardless of the reasons why it is unusual for a huge game fronted by a celebrity to drop in price by nearly 50% less than 7 days after it has been released. Even if the game is counted as a success on Game Pass it will be interesting to see if the game is counted as a success by Microsoft themselves.

What do you think about this massive drop in price? Is the lack of marketing to blame or the game's inclusion on Game Pass? Let us know what you think about Crackdown 3 in the comments down below.
