A ton of new games entered the market these past few weeks, such as Kingdom Hearts III, Jump Force, Metro Exodus, and Far Cry New Dawn. The latter three released just last week, and I’ll give you a moment to guess which topped the UK charts.

Did you guess Far Cry’s newest spin-off? If so, congratulations! That’s right, despite Far Cry 5 releasing less than a year ago, people are still clamoring for more of Ubisoft’s big franchise. Metro Exodus came in second place, here, with Jump Force falling in fourth. That said, keep in mind that the top 10 from The Association For UK Interactive Entertainment (UKIE) only records physical releases. The list for 2019’s seventh week is as follows:

1. Far Cry New Dawn 2. Metro Exodus 3. Red Dead Redemption 2 4. Jump Force 5. FIFA 19 6. Resident Evil 2 7. New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe 8. Kingdom Hearts III 9. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe 10. Call of Duty: Black Ops 4

Despite New Dawn hitting number one, note that the series only hit 13% of Far Cry 5’s during its opening week. That is a massive drop. While New Dawn is only a spin-off, its numbers reached just 25% of Far Cry 4’s spin-off, Far Cry Primal, during opening week, reports Eurogamer. 60% of gamers bought New Dawn on PS4, with 39% on Xbox and the rest on PC.

Metro Exodus, even though it hit second place, fared better. 4A Games’ latest hit second place by only 2,000 units, but it did better financially than the previous game, Last Light. Keep in mind that digital sales are not counted, so Exodus likely performed much better than these numbers report. It also retailed for $20 more than Far Cry New Dawn meaning its earnings were higher.

However, Crackdown 3, the game long thought to be stuck in development hell, only hit 13th on the list. That, and physical launch sales are only 10 percent of Crackdown 2’s from 2010. But, Crackdown 3 also launched on Game Pass - the avenue most gamers probably went down considering that service is only $10 a month. This is backed up by the fact that Crackdown 3's campaign was the third most played game on Xbox  One, beaten only by free to play battle royale's Apex Legends and Fortnite.

We won’t see too many drastic changes next week, though. EA’s Anthem is jumping into the fray, but that release may be weakened by digital sales and subscriptions that gave early access, that’s the only major release planned!
