Earlier this year, Destruction AllStars was revealed as a colorful, fast-paced demolition derby featuring a cast of colorful characters. We later learned a few more details about the characters and their abilities, but the publisher has not released much more in the way of substantive details. Now, it's been announced that Destruction AllStars PS5 pre-orders are being refunded following a release date delay.
Why Are Destruction AllStars PS5 Pre-Orders Being Refunded?
Delays in game development are nothing new and 2020 has been a heck of a year for players. Many upcoming games have had to be pushed back by several weeks or months — and Destruction AllStars has just joined the club.
Sony has announced that it will be delaying the launch of the game into early 2021, and that's not all — it will also arrive on PlayStation Plus for two months. As a consequence, players who have made pre-orders of the game may be disappointed. Sony is pre-emptively solving that problem by refunding all pre-orders for the game outright.
"This may be disappointing news for some of you who were looking to play the game at launch, but we hope you understand the decision," read a PlayStation Blog post from Pete Smith, PlayStation's Director of Product Development. "For those of you that have already pre-ordered the game, be it via PlayStation Store, PlayStation.com, or at retail, your purchase will be refunded."
When is the New Destruction AllStars Release Date?
The new Destruction AllStars release date will be sometime in February 2021. Sony has not yet announced a specific release date.
Will There Be a Destruction AllStars PS Plus Release?
As a consequence of the delay, a Destructions AllStars PS Plus release will arrive in February 2021. The PS Plus launch of this game will break tradition and make it available for two months instead of the usual one month. Presumably, this PS Plus offer will be for February 2021 and March 2021.
For now, PlayStation gamers can look forward to Destruction AllStars launching on the PS5 in February 2021.
